Character[/b]
Name: Sinclare (S'lare)
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Rank: Candidate/Journeyman Tanner
Mutation: Pyrokinesis. Sinclare can conjure fire with his bare hands, and not get burned. His clothes, however, do not always share the same fate, and he tends to throw fire when he gets annoyed.
Location: Skysong Weyr
Appearance:
One need only look at the man called 'Sinclare' to know that something's up with him. For one thing, his hair is a mixture of golden blond – probably his original hair color – and a fiery red that could only have come from being caught out in Acid. Sometimes, his hair bursts into flame when he lets himself become consumed with a strong emotion such as rage. His eyes are an angry shade of green, if green can be called an angry color. Perhaps it would be better to say that his eyes are an intense green, and his usual scowl makes the color seem as though it could be angry.
Sinclare often burns his clothes in bursts of anger, and so his wardrobe is sadly reduced. He wears brown leather trousers, so new they chafe his legs, and a much-patched red shirt that clings to his well-muscled upper torso. His clothes are by no means comfortable, but hey! It's not like he can exactly afford more clothes right now, even if he is a Journeyman. Besides, he's keeping a low profile at the moment, which means no stealing.
Personality:
As of now, Sinclare is playing very, very nice. The dragons chose him when he could have been ignored, and the weyr took him in as a candidate. That does not, however, make him the nice guy. He has a long history of violence and arson, with enough credence to be believed, but just unbelievable enough that eyebrows would be raised. He has issues with authority, and when the candidate master figures that out, he might as well be out on his own again.
Loyalty? Please. Show him a time when another human being was loyal to another, and he will do his best to rip it to shreds. No one has ever stood by him, ever, and his attitude reflects that. It will be very interesting how the bond of Impression changes him.
History:
Riff-raff. Holdless. Outcast.
Such were the labels plastered on Sinclare from a young age. His parents had not wanted to go to Skysong when they manifested mutations – water manipulation and lightning – and so had to survive on their own with a little boy. Sinclare was often hungry, lonely, and very, very frightened in his formative years, which might account for his authority issues. His parents were constantly on the move, and sometimes, Sinclare got left behind. One of those times, he was found by a young Tanner making a trek from Fort to Skysong Hold, and he offered the youngster a ride.
Sinclare was taught by skeptical Masters and indifferent Journeymen who believed it their job only to teach their craft, and not the finer points of humanity. Sinclare was left to develop things like a conscience and moral code by himself. As you can see, that didn't turn out so well.
He gathered a reputation as a thief, though until the theft of the egg, no one could prove that it had been Sinclare that took whatever was missing. Items were simply never found again. The theft of the egg, however, changed all of that. One of the Masters had received a fire lizard egg in barter, and the word in the Hall was that it held a queen. Well, Sinclare couldn't very well let an opportunity like this pass him by! He pilfered the egg in the dead of night, and used his pyrokinetic power to keep the egg as warm as necessary in the unheated apprentice rooms.
Sinclare was rather pleasantly surprised that his stolen queen egg held not a gold, but a new color tentatively known as 'Diamond'. Being a young man of little imagination when it came to things like naming, he named the hatchling a slightly modified version of his mother's blue's name – Aquaria.
So, I know what everyone's wondering. How the shard did such a twisted character earned Journeyman? Easy – he passed the test. Sinclare is violent, but not stupid, and when he applies himself, he isn't a bad tanner.
And as for how he wound up at Skysong, well, the dragons came in Search, and picked Sinclare to Stand at the new queen's clutch. So with a lifetime of rebellion, a head full of hot air, and a stolen fire lizard queen on his shoulder, he is trying not to get kicked out of the weyr.
This should be fun.

The only other male candidate at the moment also has authority issues, but he doesn't seem violent. Sinclare is, and I'm looking forward to pitting the two against each other.
