Character
Name: Anka[/blockquote]
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Rank: Weyrling
Mutated: Yes. She has the ability to place her hand on rocks and feel what has happened, or gone on, around them.
Location: Fort Weyr
Appearance: Since she was around seven Turns old, she has been training to protect those around her. She has a lilith body, toned and muscluar, but hidden under buttery tanned skin and a thin layer of warmthing fat. Scars cover her, mostly on her arms and back, a few on her knuckles, but not enough to disfigure her horribly.
She is of medium height, on the thinner side of weight, with a medium frame that includes medium sized breasts. Her waist dips inward and her hips flare out, giving her a slight hour-glass figure, as Eartherns would say, but she tends to hide it under heavy clothing. Wild, curly black hair that hangs down to her shoulders. When the light hits certain strands, it seems to catch fire with highlights from being outside to much. Cool brown orbs look out from behind heavy lashes and her curls. Her lips are full and plump, but not enough to draw too much attention.
The limbs that hold her up are thickly muscled, from years of running with herdbeast or swimming. There are scars that litter her body, most on her arms and back, from training with T'yra, but for the most part, she keeps them hidden.
Personality: Anka is a strange one to put it mildly. She was raised by her Brownrider of a father, to be the 'guard' of the Weyrwoman's daughter, but ended up falling in love with the girl and was never allowed to protect her; instead she was used by the girl. Over the years, that was developed into a theme in Anka's life; always the one protecting, never the one being protected. She had no need for anyone protecting her, thus she became a slightly distant person, She still speaks to others, but normally they approach her first. She has a slight fear of being used again.
Anka has a bit of a temper, but it isn't bad. She can keep it under control, but walls are not protected from her anger. There are scars on her knuckles from punching walls to contain her anger. There are many flaws for this candidate, but they make her human, remind her everyday that being a Dragonrider does not make her superior. She likes it that way, and hopes other Riders see it as such.
Loyal and protective, she supports anything she thinks is right. Believes in obeying orders, she has found her nerves will make her ill if she doesn't obey an order, though it doesn't bother her as much when someone of a lower ranking one tries to order her and she doesn't obey right away.
History: Anka was born to a high ranked Brownrider, T'yra of Brown Bapith; a result of dragonlust that had ended her father in bed with a maid he didn't know. At first, til she was weaned, she stayed with her mother, but as soon as she no longer needed her mother's milk to survive, she was handed off to another woman, an old nurse maid named Fynran. She was lucky that Fynran was the nurse maid to the Weyrwoman of the Weyr and was unable to leave the Weyr, thus Anka stayed at her home Weyr, close to her father.
For the first couple of years, T'yra hardly saw his daughter, but when Anka was three, the Brownrider suddenly showed up, Bapith behind him, and walked back into Anka's life. Fynran allowed the Brownrider to have his daughter back, though she wasn't happy about a male Rider raising a young girl, but she had her hands full with the Senior Weyrwoman's brat and had no time for Anka. For the first time, that Anka could remember, she was with blood family once more.
At first, living with T'yra and Bapith was fun. Anka played day and night with the aging Brown, bounced on her father's knee, or played with other Weyrbrats. It was here, that Anka met a young boy named Ravlet, who turned out to be her half brother. T'yra incouraged their friendship, and Anka did her best to get to know the young boy but he seemed so stuck on his Weyrbrat friends that he hardly stayed around her. So for the first couple of Turns, Anka thought that Ravlet hated her, she just didn't know that he was a being a young boy and wasn't very interested in girls; wither they were his half sister or potential mates.
It wasn't until Anka was seven that she found out that T'yra was training her. A full Turn after she had been born, the Weyrwoman had announced she was due to have her own child. As one of the few Riders with a child within the Weyr, T'yra had volunteered Anka to be the Weyrwoman's child playmate and guard when it was old enough. Words were spoken without Anka's knowing and seven years later, Anka found herself within the Weyr, training to protect and befriend a child she had never met. She grew up fast, under T'yra's and Bapith's watchful gaze. The Brown pair trained her mind and body, while trying to keep it as interesting as they could. Once they felt she was ready, just after her nineth Turn, did they introduce her to the Weyrwoman's daughter.
At first, Anka tried her hardest to accept the Weyrwoman's daughter as a friend, but it was soon made known to all that the Weyrwoman's daughter wanted nothing to do with Anka. It was around this time that Ravlet started showing interest in knowing his half sister. When she wasn't trying to impress the Weyrwoman's daughter, she was with Ravlet and his pretty jade firelizard, Imp. It was then that she found out that their father had accepted her back into his life, but not Ravlet, which she could understand for Ravlet not wanting to be around her as a child. He appologized, she forgave him, and they did the best they could to form a bond like siblings should. She tried her hardest to be with the Weyrwoman's daughter. They did chores together, with Anka doing all of the work, and the Weyrwoman's brat getting away with clean hands. They started Candidate lessons together, again Anka getting the short end of the stick. For several Turns, Anka stayed by the girl, she did everything she could. She was picked on for the love she felt but wasn't returned.
When she turned thirteen, T'yra shook her awake with the Senior Gold's bugle echoing within the Candidate barracks. A clutch was about to Hatch. Following her love out onto the Sands, Anka found herself standing alone, as the Weyrwoman's daughter went to stand by another female. Anka's heart sank, feeling like it was broken. In the Stands, Anka could see Ravlet and Imp, watching her and hoping she would Impress, while T'yra and Bapith were on the ledges, watching with eager breath. The Hatching started and got underway before Anka knew it; she watched as several Candidates Impressed and only felt her heart sink more when her love interest was Bonded to a beautiful Green. When she walked off the Sands, Ravlet was there waiting, and she wrapped her arms around his waist and cried into his chest. It was the first time she and her half brother had embraced and the first time he had seen her cry. It was easy to forget she was just a little girl with how tough she acted. T'yra didn't inturpt them, he and Bapith just watched and his children tried to comfort each other.
T'yra returned to being Tlamyra when Bapith went between due to Acidscore; Anka almost lost herself but the chores, people, and the thought of possibly Standing at Skysong's hatching kept her going. Ravlet became R'let of Blue Ionth, a dragon that ANka enjoyed being around, though she wondered if her brother would go with her if she went to Skysong Weyr. There had been reports of some of the Riders at Skysong having strange powers at Skysong and she wasn't sure if R'let had any. Now, she waits for her chance to jump to Skysong Weyr, knowing she would be more welcomed there than at Fort Weyr.
Anything else you want to add: Ever since the Acid fell, she has been hesitant about transferring to Skysong Weyr. She would love to, but doesn't know how she will be accepted or how she would get there.
Impressed
Dragon Name: Truinith[/blockquote]
Dragon Color: Brown - color code 330000 Truinith is a dark brown, like what the mud looks like after a hard rain.
Brief Personality: When Truinith was born, he plowed into Anka and bore her to the ground, hurting her left arm, barely scoring the thin flesh with his claws, but it made him worry. Aside from his constant worrying about hurting His, he is extremely hyper, happy, and excited. Always moving, Anka is surprised this Brown can even sleep, though it seems he has to literary fall asleep, wherever he may be. This will get better as he ages, as he learns to control his energy. His words are always happy and he speaks to any dragon, and sometimes humans, depending on how well he knows them.
Anything else you want to add: If he is touching Anka when she is touching rock, he can see what she sees, but that is as far as any powers go for him.
