Character[/b]
Name: C'rey
Age: 24
Gender: male
Rank: Wingsecond
Mutated?(If so what is their ability): Tracking--he can find a place or object just by picturing it in his mind and then following his instincts.
Location: Fort Weyr
Appearance: C'rey is a handsome man, and he knows it. He carries himself with a sense of arrogance, and his refined features are often set in an expression of contempt towards lesser beings. He is tall and slender, with a build that can only be described as "lithe." That slenderness hides a subtle strength lent to him by his intense training as a dragonrider. He may look thin, but don't mess around with him, because he'll have you on the floor in moments. Of course, he usually doesn't find cause to use that strength for anything but riding, because violent expressions of anger are a sign of weakness.
He is unusually pale for a Pernese person, the result of a certain combinations of genetics, and his skin has an immaculate, porcelain quality to it that only adds to his elegant beauty. But he sunburns easily, and is often seen with a reddish tinge to his skin if he's been out in the sun too long. He tries to wear hats, even though they look ridiculous on him. But he's pretty sure no one's going to mention that. His paleness is offset by the shoulder-length black hair that falls to his shoulders, as well as his dark, stormy grey eyes. At least he tries to wear neutral colors, despite his love of darker hues, so that he isn't too washed out.
Personality: Cold and cynical, C'rey keeps himself distant from others. What began as a defense mechanism in childhood has now become arrogance and disdain for other people. He trusts only himself, and is extremely self-reliant. He is a devoted pessimist, believing that things will always get worse before they get better--if they get better at all.
He puts up a constant front of haughty toughness, putting off a warning that he getting too close to him will only get you hurt. However, he does have a sensitive side. He loves music and listening to it is one of the few times he'll actually relax. He also has a good singing voice, and can sometimes be heard singing in the shower. And he can spend hours looking at art. Clothing, too. He's stylish and he loves to dress up. Clothes are like an art to him.
Politically, he has been quiet about whether or not he agrees with kicking out the mutated colors. As a mutant himself, he is tempted to sympathize with them, but he doesn't want to risk the wrath of the Weyrwoman. He supports the Weyrleader, but also wishes the man would stand up to the Weyrwoman more.
History: In some ways, Carey had a good childhood. There was always food on the table and a warm bed waiting for him. However, it was not without difficulty. His father abandoned the family when he was young, leaving his mother to raise her son herself in Fort Hold. The other Holders were suspicious of a single mother and they never really fit in to the community. Carey was a lonely child. He usually played alone, making up stories or singing to himself. When he was older, he helped his mother around the Hold a lot, and believed himself to be more mature than his peers.
Meanwhile, his mother was writing back and forth with a man she had met at a Gather. They arranged to see each other again, and after a few months, they decided to marry. Carey was happy for his mother, but also a little jealous. No longer the head of the family, he felt a little bit lost and useless. Then, one day a Searchrider visited the Hold. Carey was shocked when he was Searched. He spent some time considering it, and then decided to go to the Weyr. There, he Impressed to bronze Ozinth. He had never been happier. C'rey was still cold and solitary, but some part of his heart had been opened up by his dragon.
During the Threadfall, he was exposed to the new kind of Thread. He was sick for a few days, and then recovered. At first he thought nothing had changed, but then he found that he had developed an unerring sense of direction.
